For eight consecutive years, Community Organizations and Families and Youth (COFFY) has held the annual Youth Violence Prevention Conference.
This conference brings together an average of 350 youth and 150 adult professionals and college students from the health care, social services, law enforcement, and youth development fields. The conference purpose is to focus on the very real issues of youth violence in the Northwest Indiana region, its contribution factors and possible solutions.
The one-day event will provide a number of local, regional, and national presenters that will help participants enhance their knowledge regarding effective methods to curb youth violence.
The morning keynote speaker is Gary’s own Dr. Michael A. McGee, MD, MPH, FACEP and the afternoon keynote speaker is Dr. Antonio Webb, MD a nationally recognized and respected author of the book “Overcoming the Odds; From War on the Streets of Louisiana, to the War on Terrorism in Iraq, How I successfully Overcame the Odds.”
