Hello Dr. Webb, my grandson David Walker was given your book to read by his SWAG Coach & Founder DeVon Hilliard, you also write a little note in it specifically to David and thank you but the problem is he hasn’t even gotten a chance to read it because I am reading it and can’t put it down, so far it is a wonderful book, my grandson said Gram I’ll read it after you, I bragged so much about how good this book is that my Aunt wants to read it after me….I thank you for giving this book to DeVon to give to David it is so inspirational every parent and child should have a copy of this book “Overcoming The Odds” and I will be continually spreading it around and letting people know this is the best book. Thanks once again….

Hi Dr. Webb.
You are an Inspiration. Please help me decide the following: What you’ll look better in a Medical School Application. Spend a year working for City Year doing tutoring, and education related activities with kids in a unprivileged school, or working as a Care Management Associate at a hospital.
Thank you so much for your time.

Hi Silas, there is no set thing that will look better than anything else on your app. Most important is that you find something you enjoy doing and do that. Don’t just do an activity just because it will look good on paper. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Best,
AJW

Hello Antonio,
I just read your piece on Kevinmd and now find myself on your web page. I will read your book as soon as I have a chance. I want to thank you for sharing your amazing story of courage and perseverance. The work you are doing now is so important and your “give back ” is inspiring to say the least. Praise to Georgetown for seeing your light and potential.
I had a friend in college I think often about who was an ex marine in Vietnam, on the roof of the embassy when
Saigon fell. An amazing person and student. He too struggled and tried several times to get into medical school. I lost touch with him but hope that one day I hear that his path mirrored yours and he is now happily practicing medicine. I am honored and thankful that you are part of our profession. Keep on with the excellent work.
All the best,

I just read your story on Twitter. Congratulations on your persistence and resilience in overcoming overwhelming odds. Yes, supposedly if you can do that “anyone” can but the truth is that not everyone will have your level of intelligence, degree of persistence, striving personality, etc. All those individuals are still worthy of assistance to reach perhaps lesser goals. Thank you for sharing your story. We need to find ways to help all citizens overcome negative influences.

Bless you Dr. Webb. Thank you for all of your service. I plan to become a surgeon just like you sir. I’m not feeling too confident about taking this MCAT in June, though. Perhaps I should have gone with a different study plan. I heard that you took it thrice before you won. What did you do differently between exams? Any advice would be most appreciated.
